Janet Minnehan
April 17, 1932— March 6, 2026
Johnston, IA
Janet Minnehan, née Stone, age 93, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Johnston, Iowa. Born on April 17, 1932, in Tucson, Arizona, to William and Florence Stone, Janet grew up in the Quad Cities area after her family moved from Arizona. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1949 and later attended Augustana College.
In 1952, she married Ward Minnehan, and the couple shared 56 devoted years together until his passing in 2009. Janet worked for Baker’s Dairy and later built a successful career as a realtor with Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors, earning membership in the Million Dollar Sales Club. She spent most of her life in the Quad Cities along the Iowa-Illinois border before moving to Meadowview in Johnston. She found joy in golf, bridge, her book club, and Bible study at First Congregational Church. A longtime member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood BL Chapter, she was also a former member of Short Hills Country Club, where she once celebrated a memorable hole-in-one. Friends and family remembered her quick wit and love of telling jokes.
Janet is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Michael Sage of Johnston, Iowa; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam Minnehan of Columbia, Tennessee; her grandson, Private First Class Taylor Minnehan, currently stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia; and her sister, Julie Stone of Henderson, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward Minnehan, and her parents, William and Florence Stone.
