Janet LeDoux Jenkins

1951 — 2026

Baton Rouge, LA

Janet LeDoux Jenkins, 74, of Baton Rouge, affectionately known as “Grammy,” passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 26, 1951, in Eunice, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Mary Cormier LeDoux and Leroy LeDoux. The only girl in her family, Janet cherished her two brothers and remained close to them throughout her life.

A proud graduate of Eunice High School, Class of 1969, Janet earned both her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree from Louisiana State University. She devoted more than thirty years to teaching kindergarten, touching the lives of countless children with patience, wit, and genuine affection. It was in her classroom that she first met her future husband, Larry, when he came to pick up his nephew, Chad. She later served as her school’s librarian for three years before retiring. An avid reader with a lifelong passion for antiques, Janet also found deep fulfillment in her faith as a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. George Catholic Church, where she taught CCD classes and served as a reader at Mass. In recent years she drew great comfort from her rosary group. She delighted in cultivating and sharing her beautiful zinnias each spring and found her greatest joy in her two grandchildren, Jayce and James.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Jenkins; sons Travis Jenkins and wife Erika of St. Gabriel, and Jonathan Jenkins of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Jayce and James Jenkins; brother Roger LeDoux and wife Connie of Washington; and sisters-in-law Debbie LeDoux of Eunice and Vickie Hawkins and husband Andy of McAllen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Leroy LeDoux, and her brother Timmy LeDoux.
