Janet Evelyn Gooch

Janet Evelyn Gooch, 95, of Frederic, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on March 9, 2026.

Born on December 31, 1930, in Bourne, Massachusetts, to Clark and Corena (Sproule) Myers, Janet lived a life marked by quiet dedication and gentle warmth. She worked for many years as a teacher and librarian, and she served as a Girl Scout leader for a generation of young women. A longtime member of Michelson Memorial United Methodist Church, she found joy in the bell choir. An avid reader with a keen sense of humor, Janet also cherished the outdoors, especially camping and quiet hours spent beside her beloved fish pond. Above all, she loved her family deeply and took great pride in their every accomplishment.

She is survived by her children, Beverly Jean Deardurff and Thomas William Gooch; her grandchildren, Joshua Norville, Tiffany Norviel, Jennifer (Erik) Reichert, Wesley Paul Deardurff, Peggy Sue Deardurff, Elizabeth (Joshua) Chalifoux, and Joseph William Gooch; and six great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gooch, and her daughter, Nancy Joe Gooch.
