Janet Elizabeth Hargrove

Janet Waff Hargrove, 68, of Edenton, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at her home. Born June 20, 1957 in Edenton, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Marie Ferguson Waff. She loved trips to Myrtle Beach, cruises, true-crime shows, and family get-togethers. Janet also loved spending time with her husband, Bob and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Hargrove; a daughter, Keri J. Thrasher and her husband, RIchard of Edenton, a sister, Crystal "Chris" Bethune and her husband, Ricky of Winston-Salem; a brother, Perry Waff and his wife, Mary of Edenton; two step-sisters, Debbie Phelps and Lynn Stauber and her husband, Harold, all of Burgaw; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Waff of Edenton, Joan Waff of Chester, VA, Melanie Ballanger and her husband, Ricky of Castle Haynes, and Charlene Watson of Edenton; three grandchildren, Jordan Jackson, Riley Jackson, and Samantha Thrasher; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Hughes and Carolyn Warren; two brothers, Johnny Waff and Danny Waff; her step-mother, Doris Waff; a step-brother, David Twine; a sister-in-law, Cherie LeMaster; and a son-in-law, Barry Jackson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 13th at 11:00 am in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton with Pastor Jay Rivenbark officiating. Burial will follow in the Waff Family Cemetery, Edenton. The family will receive friends following the burial at the family home.
