Janet Elaine Long

Janet Elaine Long, age 74 of White House, passed away on March 1, 2026 at her home. Born on August 9, 1951 in Kingsport, Tennessee to Ernest and Kate Craddock Barrett, she lived a full life marked by quiet joys and deep family devotion.

Before retiring, Janet worked for GMC. She found great pleasure in dancing, traveling, and losing herself in a good book. Above all, she cherished watching her grandchildren compete in sports of every kind, her pride in them evident in every moment she spent on the sidelines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bobbie Carter Long, and her brother Wayne Barrett. Janet is survived by her sons, Joshua Aaron (Laura) Porter of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Justin Chad (Christy) Porter of Clayton, North Carolina; her daughter, Krystal (Kevin) Catlin of White House, Tennessee; her sister, Frankie (JD) Myers of Padre Island, Texas; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
