July 13, 1960— March 6, 2026
Charleston, SC
Janet Brabham, 65, of Charleston, passed away on March 2, 2026. Born in 1959 to Nancy Lucille Brabham (Skaggs) and Quintus Manning Brabham, Janet displayed remarkable intellect from an early age. She graduated from Hanahan High School at 16 and attended the University of South Carolina before discovering her passion for construction and remodeling. She founded and successfully managed her own construction business for forty years.
An outstanding gardener, Janet generously shared the bounty of her harvests with family and friends. She was a gifted cook whose Eggs Benedict was beloved by all, and cooking served as her primary way of expressing love. No one ever left her table—or her presence—hungry or unloved. She encouraged others to explore new recipes and flavors and extended her kindness to family, friends, longtime clients who became dear friends, and even strangers. Her booming laugh was contagious, and her ability to make each person feel like the most important one in the room will be remembered fondly.
Janet was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her loving partner of thirty-four years, Lori Brown; their son, Max Brabham; her sister, Sharon Schwarz (Andrew) and their sons, Drew and Matthew; and her brother, Lamar Brabham (Beth) and their son, Scott.
