Jane (Baron) Steele Greenville - Jane Baron Steele, 63, of Greenville, NC passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2026.Jane was born on October 1, 1962 in Lancaster, NH and she was lovingly adopted by Lucien and Helen Baron. She was raised with a love for tennis, music and spending meaningful time with family. She met her future husband, Greg Steele, in 1986. The two married in 1987 and spent nearly 40 wonderful years together raising their three beautiful children and being actively involved in the lives of their three grandchildren. One of Jane's favorite pastimes was spending time with family, especially her grandson Ben, in Beaufort. Her unconditional love and support for her family was easy to see and certainly extended to her beloved lab, Babs.She will be remembered for her beautiful singing voice and she loved participating in musicals, church choirs, and handbells throughout her life. Jane courageously battled and overcame breast cancer on three separate occasions. She was widely admired for her strength, resilience, and constant faith throughout her treatments. Jane also loved supporting and encouraging others going through similar cancer journeys. Jane is survived by her husband, Greg Steele; her son Matt (wife Kirstie); daughter Emily Scott (husband Molick); and son Drew (wife Peyton). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Ben, Chris and James Steele; her sisters Joyce McSweeney and Judy Wirtanen; and sister-in-law Cheri Stalls (husband Lloyd); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucien and Helen Baron. A visitation will be held Friday, March 13, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home Greenville, NC 2100 East 5th Street Greenville, NC 27858A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 14th at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church 1400 S Elm St. Greenville, NC 27858.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina in Jane's memory https://www.cancerservicesofenc.org or to Eastern North Carolina Fellowship of Christian Athletes https://www.easternncfca.org.
