Jane Linthicum Bosley, 83, of Hamilton VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 after a valiant effort to survive cancer. Jane was the beloved wife of William H. "Bill" Bosley, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage as of August 17th. She was also survived by her sister Algene Linthicum Ashworth of Richmond, VA. Jane was born on December 14, 1944, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late James Earl Linthicum and Virgie Lone Smart Linthicum. Jane was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James Kelly Linthicum and Luzena Bradner Linthicum; her maternal grandparents, James Randall Smart and Sarah Spencer Smart; many cousins, aunts, and uncles; and her two dear friends, Luann Shackleford and Betty Marker.Jane and her devoted husband, Bill, built a full life in Hamilton surrounded by many cherished friends and neighbors. Many of their fondest memories were made in their community through gatherings at meals, picnics, reunions and parties. An avid reader throughout her life often exchanging books with so many others. Jane also enjoyed cooking, photography, and traveling. Her adventures took her as far as China, though she found particular peace during her many trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. One of her favorite pastimes was exploring country roads with Bill, discovering hidden treasures in local bookstores and antique shops along the way. A dedicated lifelong learner, Jane earned her degree in Library Science and her master's in library administration from James Madison University. She also had the unique opportunity to study motion picture direction under the legendary Hollywood director Frank Capra.Jane's distinguished career with Loudoun County Public Schools spanned 33 years, beginning as a librarian and culminating in her role as Library Administrator. Throughout her career, she followed a three-faceted philosophy: she prioritized the needs of the children first, followed by her colleagues, and finally the institution itself. Jane was a vibrant and active member of her community. She served as a member and president of the Original Hamilton Book Club, a member of the Auxiliary for Company 5 Hamilton, and a member and past president of Virginia Educational Media Association. Additionally, she was a member and Worthy Matron of the McKinley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.Jane will be fondly remembered for living a life of service, moving through the world with a gentle grace that spoke louder than words. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6 to 8 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.Funeral services to celebrate Jane's life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11am with Pastor Larry Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Hamilton, VA.Serving as pallbearers are Mark Butler, Michael Spinks, Hunter Spinks, James "JT" Hutchison, Brandon Hutchison and Riley Ashby.
