Savannah, GA
Jane Yawn Knight, a lifelong resident of Savannah, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born in Savannah on May 7, 1942, to the late William R. and Mary Kathleen Yawn, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Lee Benton Knight, Jr., her sister Wylene Satchell, and her brother Willie Yawn.
A 1961 graduate of Herschel V. Jenkins High School, Jane possessed a sharp, intuitive mind for numbers that guided a successful career in accounting. She honed her skills at Lazard, Lazard, Curlee & Bennett, CPA, before joining Thomas & Hutton Engineering in 1985, where she devoted 20 years to managing the office and supporting the company’s growth.
Jane was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She found joy in gardening, reading, bridge, Black Friday shopping, and especially in time spent with her family at the beach, on weekend boat outings, or trying her luck at casino slot machines. She took great pride in boasting about her beloved grandchildren.
She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Betsy Hinz (Keith), Amanda Jane Mallard, and Jenny Ayscue (Tollie); nine grandchildren, Trey Thompson, Jessica Porter (Kevin), Candace Jones (Hunter), Elizabeth Grant (Alfred), Annie Jane Latta (Austin), Ivy Mallard, Kathleen Mallard, Claire Sturtevant (Cason), and Will Ayscue; and nine great-grandchildren, Camden, Adelaide, Wyatt, Alice, Marleigh, Alfie Knight, Selah Jane, AJ, and Alana.
