Jane Twomey, a loving mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, in West Bloomfield, Michigan, at the age of 94.
Born on December 23, 1931, in Kells, Ireland, Jane grew up in a large and loving family that instilled in her a lasting warmth, humor, and deep sense of family rooted in her Irish heritage. She devoted her career to caring for others, beginning as a midwife in London before continuing her work in healthcare in New York. She later settled in Michigan, where she served for many years as a labor and delivery nurse, bringing countless new lives into the world with compassion, dedication, and a calm presence that earned the trust and affection of many families.
Her greatest joy was her family and her marriage to her beloved husband, John Twomey. Together they created a life filled with love, laughter, and steadfast support for their children and grandchildren. Jane was known for her loving heart, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. She especially cherished dancing and being surrounded by those she held dear, and she took immense pride in all her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Jane is survived by her daughter Tara Twomey; her son John Twomey and his wife Sara; her daughter Maureen and her wife Ginny; and her cherished grandchildren Dylan Trapp, Caira Trapp, Jack Twomey, Erin Twomey, and Ryan Twomey. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Twomey, and her siblings Marion, Sheila, Bridie, Eleanor, Peggy, Nancy, Larry, Patsy, and Tommy.
