Preserve forever →Jane Bollman Blair
February 5, 1939— March 10, 2026
Baton Rouge, LA
Jane Bollman Blair was born on February 5, 1939, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Paul W. Bollman, Sr. and Lodora “Dora” May Lorah Bollman of the Bollman Hat Factory in Adamstown, Pennsylvania. She was the middle child, between her older brother, Paul W. Bollman, Jr., and her younger sister, Judith “Judy” Bollman Beard.
Jane attended Duke University before marrying the love of her life, Rev. Dr. Charles “Skip” W. Blair, Jr. The two met on the beach in Stone Harbor, New Jersey, where both of their families had vacationed for many years.
After their marriage, Jane completed her undergraduate studies at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., while Skip attended seminary. Together they began raising their family of five children while living in several places, including Thermopolis, Wyoming; Richmond, Virginia; and Charlottesville, Virginia. While living in Charlottesville, Jane attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her master’s degree in education.
After completing her studies, Jane and her family eventually settled in Lafayette, Louisiana. Jane worked alongside Skip to help establish the Pastoral Counseling Center of Lafayette. After Skip’s passing in 1982, Jane returned to school to study nursing in Lafayette. She later dedicated many years as a volunteer at “The Well,” a homeless shelter sponsored by the Episcopal Church. There, she faithfully served those in need, offering compassion, encouragement, and hope to everyone who walked through the doors. Many affectionately referred to her as “their angel.”
In her later years, Jane devoted herself fully to her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was blessed with seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Jane was always there for anyone in need. She deeply loved the Lord and reflected His love in everything she did. When her family would marvel at how fortunate they had been over the years, she would often reply with a smile, “You think that is luck? What you have is a mom who prays for you all the time.”
Jane passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Glenncrest at Siegen Assisted Living Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her warm and generous spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. They find comfort in knowing she is now in heaven with the Lord, reunited with the love of her life, Skip, and other beloved family members.
Jane is survived by her five children: Kathy Blair Potter (Doug), Kary Blair Love (Vince), Charles “Chip” W. Blair III (Theresa), Timothy Bollman Blair, and Dr. Michael Montgomery Blair (Nikki); her grandchildren: Jay Fricke (Jen), Elizabeth DeYoung (Jacob), Emily Kersting (Sam), Megan Love (Cameron), Colten Love (Taylor), Lisa Mayet (Ryan), Lori Sicard (Dylan), Charles “Chase” Blair IV, Forrest Blair, Hannah Blair Ochieng (Oginga), Ethan Blair, Jonah Blair, Aidan Ferchaud, Bennett Blair, Frankie Blair, and Levi Blair; and her sister, Judy.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her granddaughter, Joy Ferchaud; her brother; and her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at Glenncrest at Siegen, Hospice in His Care, family friend Susan Brocato, and Folakemi “Kemi” Stinson and the staff at Kemi Care.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the Legacy Room at Resthaven.
