Jane Feit ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory - Greenfield on Mar. 14, 2026.GREENFIELD – Jane Ann (Meengs) Feit, 81 of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at her residence. She was born on February 14, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois to the late John & Ada (DePree) Meengs. Jane married James Feit on August 26, 1967, in Mishawaka, IN.Mrs. Feit was an elementary teacher for many years at an American School overseas. She was a 1963 Graduate of Mishawaka High School. She attended Hope College and graduated from Manchester College, North Manchester, IN. She earned her Master's degree in library science from Butler University. Jane enjoyed traveling abroad and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time in the summer and fall at the family lake cottage surrounded by extended family. Jane enjoyed playing cards and board games with her family in the evening.Mrs. Feit had been a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, IN. She volunteered many hours over the years between her church and her own children's school. She had been a board member of the Indianapolis German Heritage Society and Palatines to America, and Athenaeum Turners. She volunteered at the local New Palestine Elementary H.O.S.T.S program. She was most active in attending her grandchildren's sports and performing arts shows.Jane is survived by her daughters, Jean Feit of and Cathy (Kirby) Purciful of Greenfield, IN; three grandchildren, Emmaline, Benjamin and Elijah all of Greenfield, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and brother, John Meengs.A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
