Jane Ann Davis Obituary March 9, 2026 - Moore Memorial Homes

Jane Ann Davis, 94, of London Mills, Illinois, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, March 9, 2026. Jane was born July 11, 1931, in rural Fulton County to George Shover and Gladys (Williamson) Shover. She graduated as salutatorian of the 1st graduating class of Spoon River Valley High School in 1949.She married Stanley Davis on June 1, 1949 in the London Mills United Methodist Church.Those left to cherish her memory are: two sons, Robert (Brenda) Davis and Kenneth (Debra) Davis, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Stanley Davis, a brother George Beverly, her sister, June Overdorf and brother, Robert Shover.Jane was a loving farm wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and "G-Ma" (great-grandmother) and became a great-great-grandma. She worked 20 years for the Spoon River Valley Schools. Jane taught Sunday school and VBS at the London Mills United Methodist Church where she also played piano, sang solos and for funerals as well as sang in the choir. She accompanied, on the piano, many students in school instrumental contests as well.Jane enjoyed having a large vegetable garden, a big strawberry patch and growing roses. She liked helping on the farm, riding in horse drawn wagons on the farm and in parades. She loved her cats and all farm animals. Jane was faithful to visit shut-ins and friends in the nursing homes. She loved baking. Especially making her famous Angel Food Cakes for everyone she knew. Above all else, Jane loved Jesus and shared about Jesus to everyone she knew.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the London Mills United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission or the London Mills United Methodist Church and left in the care of the funeral home. Moore Memorial Home, Avon, is handling the arrangements.
