June 26, 1946 March 10, 2026

Bremen, IN

James Wesley Bellman, 79, of Bremen, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Waterford Crossing of Goshen. Born on June 26, 1946, in Sturgis, Michigan, to the late Rev. Jesse and Nettie (Rouch) Bellman, Jim married Cheryl K. Hardy on August 7, 1965, in Bremen Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, of Bremen; three children, James “Jamie” (Amy) Bellman, Bryan (Kristin) Bellman, and Kari Bellman, all of Bremen; six grandchildren, Carson (Bess) Bellman of San Diego, California, Claire (Colton) Story of Danville, Illinois, Cannon Bellman, Madelyn Bellman, Laney Bellman, and Morgan (Ian Shriner) Smith, all of Bremen; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Wrenley Shriner. He is also survived by two siblings, Mark (Janet) Bellman of Bremen and Joyce Scott of Mishawaka. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Jim loved the Lord, his family, and his church. A lifetime local businessman and founder of Bellman Oil Co., he gave generously of his time in leadership and public service, holding positions in the church, the volunteer fire department, The Gideons, and various clubs and business organizations. He found joy in drag racing, snowmobiling, and fishing on Lake Michigan, as an avid member of the South Haven Steelheaders and a Hall of Fame member of the Hoosier Coho Club with his Break Time fishing team. Above all, he took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
