James Warren Funk II
December 31, 1942— March 8, 2026
Cedar Rapids, IA
James Warren Funk II, known to all as Jim, passed peacefully with his family by his side on March 8, 2026, at the age of 83 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Born on December 31, 1942, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, to James Warren Funk and Clara “Tilly” Funk, Jim graduated from Waynesburg Central High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Morse Code Interpreter Sergeant in Germany during the 1960s before settling in Cedar Rapids for most of his adult life. In 1969, he began a long career with Square D, holding various positions over several decades until his retirement from the Schneider Electric company in 2002.
Jim’s retirement years were filled with his great passion for all things mechanical, especially American cars. From newer Cadillacs to classic Corvettes, he owned and cherished several throughout his life. He is remembered as a devoted family man who took quiet pride in his work and his mechanical pursuits.
Jim is survived by his sister, Deborah DiBenedetto of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his son Shane and wife Janelle Funk of Atlanta, Georgia; his son Dan and wife Toni Voss of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandson Jon and wife Clare of Baltimore, Maryland; and his granddaughter Nicole of Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Tilly Funk, and his brother, Richard Funk. A private final resting ceremony will take place next to his family in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, in the coming months.
