He was born April 24, 1952, to Elton and Lorraine McClure on Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh, Illinois. When his father passed while James was young, he immediately stepped up as the caretaker of his mother and siblings, Pegi and Mark. This spirit of taking care of others persisted throughout his life, as he became a beloved educator at Kansas and Leach Elementary Schools where he touched many students' lives and cemented himself as a pillar of the community painting murals, helping with renovations, and always providing comedic relief. James was preceded in death by his father, Elton James McClure; his mother, Lorraine Margaret Sherman McClure; his sister, Peggi McClure.He is survived by his brother, Mark McClure of Yucaipa, California; his nephew, Aaron Alford of Bozeman, Montana; two nieces, Daniele McClure of Yucaipa, California, and Ariel McClure of Glendale, California.A private direct burial is scheduled at Kansas Cemetery in Kansas, Oklahoma. A memorial service is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
