James Thomas Duncan

1954 — 2026

Galion, OH

James Thomas Duncan, 71, of Galion, Ohio, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Galion Hospital. Born on August 30, 1954, to the late James and Ivory (Price) Duncan in Galion, he carried the values of hard work and integrity throughout his life. He began his career at Globe Steel and later worked at Schilling, where his steady effort and pride in a job well done earned him the lasting respect of his colleagues. He retired from Schilling after a long and dedicated career.

In 1977, James married the love of his life, Rhonda (Marshall) Duncan. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and many cherished memories. He found deep satisfaction in life’s simpler pleasures—fishing at sunrise, tending his garden and yard, and spending time outdoors. A natural maker and craftsman, James could often be found in his garage creating something new from ordinary materials. He painted landscapes on canvas and old saw blades, crafted unique lamps, and approached every handyman project with skill and creativity. He took special joy in watching Bob Ross, whose gentle style mirrored his own love of painting and peaceful creativity.

Above all, James will be remembered for his humor and warm spirit. With a quick wit and easygoing nature, he had a gift for making people laugh and turning ordinary moments into celebrations. He was the life of the party, someone whose presence brought light to every room.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rhonda Duncan; his children, Heather Duncan and Myles Duncan; his grandchildren, Clayton, Brandon, Lynx, and Luna; and his siblings, Teresia (Jeff) Mallett and Renee (Terry) McMillen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joyce Workman and Timothy Duncan.
