Born on December 16, 1946, in Richmond, California, Smitty was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose life was a testament to love, service, and joy.Smitty was the treasured son of Conway and Lovie Smith, who predeceased him along with his dear brother Corkie Smith, his loving wife Juliette Smith, and his precious son Douglas Crossley. His legacy continues through his devoted daughters, April Moore and Patrisha Smith, his beloved sons, James Smith and Thomas Smith, as well as his Cuz Bobby, who shared in his life's journey. Smitty's family tree flourished with 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom were the light of his life.A proud graduate of Richmond High School, Smitty pursued a career as a certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic, a testament to his love for tinkering and working with his hands. His dedication and expertise were admired by many, and he shared his skills generously, touching countless lives with his kindness and generosity. An avid tinkerer, Smitty found joy in numerous projects, from genealogy to cars and woodworking. His admiration for Native American heritage reflected his profound respect for history and culture.Smitty's life was marked by service, both as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was honorably discharged in 1968, and through his active involvement in the VFW, Elks, Eagles, and the Hot Rod Association of Lake Havasu City. His afternoons at Niko's were filled with laughter and camaraderie, as he shared stories and a cold beer with friends.A true believer in God, Smitty's faith was a guiding light in his life. The Lake Havasu Center for Spiritual Living, is where his memorial service will be held. His warmth and friendliness were felt by all who knew him, and he particularly adored by babies, whom he showered with love and affection. His life was a celebration of family and friendship, and his legacy of kindness will endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Family Care Hospice and Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home for their unwavering support during this difficult time.A service to honor and celebrate Smitty's remarkable life will be held at the Lake Havasu Center for Spiritual Living, located at 2041 Swanson Ave #1, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a truly remarkable man whose presence filled the world with light and love.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Smitty's memory, as a tribute to his lifelong spirit of generosity and compassion.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
