James Sinnwell ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.James Edward "Jim" Sinnwell, 79, of Charles City, Iowa, passed away on March 16, 2026, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City on Friday, March 20, 2026, with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Jim will be cremated, with a private family interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.Jim was born on October 29, 1946, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Vernon and Martha (Schwickerath) Sinnwell. He grew up in Nashua, Iowa, where he learned early the value of hard work, independence, and doing things your own way-traits that stayed with him throughout his life.Jim worked many jobs over the years, never one to sit still for long and always willing to step in where needed. Among his most notable employers were White Farm, Cambrex, and Cole Excavating, where he built lasting relationships and a reputation for getting the job done. He also served in the United States Army, carrying that same sense of duty and grit into the rest of his life.He was a man of many interests and strong opinions. Jim found joy in woodworking, hunting, and riding his motorcycle-preferably with the wind in his face and nowhere in particular he had to be. He served as a deacon at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, reflecting a quieter sense of service that was important to him.Jim was known for his humor, his stubborn streak, his generosity, and his ability to fix just about anything-or at least give it a try. He wasn't one to sugarcoat things and had a way of calling things exactly as he saw them-often summing things up in his own words as "a bunch of… well, you know." The people who knew him best understood that underneath it all was a deep care for his family and those around him.He is survived by his sons, Michael, Jeremiah, and Nicholas Sinnwell; his step-sons, Joe, Mitch, and Nick Noel; his first wife, Rita (Zweibohmer) Sinnwell; and his siblings Charlie, Barb, Marge, Jane, Randy, Rick, Leonard, and Craig Sinnwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Martha Sinnwell; his second wife, Lorianne "Lori" (Noel) Sinnwell; and his sister, Linda.Jim will be remembered for his strong will, his quick wit, and the many things he built, fixed, and left behind-both with his hands and in the lives of those who knew him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
