James "Jim" S. Guiles, age 63, formerly of Star Lake, passed away on March 14, 2026 at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown.
Jim was born on April 6, 1962 in Gouverneur to the late Gilbert W. Guiles, Sr. and Martha J. (Dalton) Guiles. He attended Clifton-Fine Central School and later worked as a seaman and deckhand for Edison Chouest Offshore in Harvey, Louisiana, until he became disabled. In later years he worked part time as a dishwasher in Pennsylvania. He found quiet joy in fishing, playing bingo, scratching lottery tickets, and occasional trips to the casino.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Leigh and Daniel Looney, sisters-in-law Beth Guiles and Charyl Weaver, and his nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Janet Long, Gilbert "Gibby" Guiles, Jr., Michael Guiles, and Mark Guiles.
