James Ruel Craig
May 19, 1948— March 6, 2026
Pima, AZ
James Ruel Craig, 77, of Pima, Arizona, passed away at his home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He fought his battle with glioblastoma with the devoted care and strength of his beloved wife, Angel.
Born in Presque Isle, Maine, in 1948 to Forrest Jacob and Doris Luela Craig, Jim joined the Air Force after high school and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He later earned a teaching degree from Arizona State University in Tempe and settled in Show Low, where he taught photography and managed the high school yearbook. It was there that he developed a deep love for the Southwest. A natural educator, he inspired those around him with his inquisitive mind and lifelong commitment to learning. His passions included photography, golf, automobiles, do-it-yourself projects, and extensive travel throughout the United States and the world. He also served many years in the National Guard and Army Reserves, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
Above all, Jim was defined by his profound love and pride for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Angel Craig; his daughter, Kayla Marie Craig; his sons, Paddy Ryan (Charisse) Craig and Kyle Andrew (Katie) Craig; his bonus daughter, Victoria (Robert) King; ten cherished grandchildren; his sisters, Jayne (Charles) Stout and Joy (David) Missler; and his brother, Jay (Sue) Craig. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jon (Sally) Craig.
Jim was a son, brother, true friend, husband, father, and grandfather—a man of quiet honor, intelligence, and generosity whose presence was a light in the lives of all who knew him.
