James Robert Hinman

James Robert Hinman, affectionately known as “Chicken Man,” of Buffalo, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 85.

He was a devoted father to Rebecca (the late Brent) Kasprzak, Jimmie Hinman, Elizabeth Christopher, Dianna (Andrew) Giambrone, Mary (the late James) Brant, Amanda (the late William) LaFratta, Christina Christopher, and the late Jeremy “Moe” Hinman. He was a cherished grandfather to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James was the loving son of the late Kenneth and Eleanor Hinman and the dear brother of Eleanor Hinman and the late Kenneth Hinman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Known for his straightforward wisdom, James’s best words of advice were simply, “Don’t get old.” He will be remembered by his family and all who knew him for the quiet strength and humor he brought to their lives.
