Mr. James "Richard" Jacobs, age 70, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Friday afternoon, March 6, 2026, at his residence.Richard was born in Draketown, GA, on March 22, 1955, a son of the late C. W. Jacobs and Sudie Mae Duncan Jacobs. He spent most of his life in Polk County and was of the Baptist faith. Richard was a self-employed drywall contractor who took pride in his work.He had a deep love for music, especially listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and enjoyed attending concerts whenever he could. Richard also treasured the simple pleasures of life including fishing and spending time with his family, and he always enjoyed being together with them.In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by four sisters, Effie Messick, Helen Letson, Brenda Smith and Lisa Smith. Three nephews also preceded him in death.Richard is survived by two sons, Brad Summerville and Eric Jacobs; sister, Lillie Proctor; brothers, Charles Jacobs and Donald Jacobs. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.Funeral services for Richard will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Lawson and Rev. Johnny Redding officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery.Richard's family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.Pallbearers will include Danny Busby, Chris Duncan, Steven Redden, Joe Redding, Brad Summerville.Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Mr. James "Richard" Jacobs.
