James "Jimmy" Raines Jr.

James W. “Jimmy” Raines, Jr., age 77, of Newport, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, after a long battle with dementia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy Raines and Ruby Williamson; his grandparents, Holford and Annie Raines; and his grandson, David Randall Strange.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Jamie Raines, JoAnn Allen, and Cindee (Andy) Carr; his grandchildren, Hunter, Kaleb, and Kolton Raines, Morgan (Corey) Conard, Macie Dunn, Tim (Paris) Strange, and Tiffany Strange; his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Jolynn Raines and Paxton Strange; his former wife, Diane Whipple; and his daughter-in-law, Michelle Raines. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Gentiva Hospice and staff, Reba Valentine, Jamie Raines, Whitney Douglas, and special caregiver and friend Betsy Stinnett for their devoted care and patience throughout his illness.
