James Spivey ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory - Hamlet on Mar. 8, 2026.James Richard Spivey, 76, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.He was born April 11, 1949, in Richmond County, son of the late Harold Spivey and Eva Currie Spivey.Mr. Spivey served our country in the United States Army. He worked as a mechanic and welder with Richmond County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. And he dearly loved his late wife, Joann Roberts Spivey. Mr. Spivey will be dearly missed by his family and those who knew and loved him.Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann Roberts Spivey; his daughter, Michelle Lee Spivey; and sisters, Margaret Roberts, Mae Barrington, and Norma Williams.Mr. Spivey is survived by his son, Kenneth Richard Spivey (Angie Smith) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Brittany McRae, Richard Blaine Chavis (Destinee), Richard Tyler Spivey (Erika), Mason Santiago (Daniel), Madison Chavis, River Thomas, and Richard Phillip Spivey; and great-grandchildren, Gracelyn, Colton, Jaxon, Zachary, and Jason.Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026 from 4:00-5:00pm at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation, at 5:00pm, with Pastor Ronnie Wayne Chavis officiating, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, along with military honors.
