James Paul Orr, fondly known as Jimmy, passed away on March 13, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on April 2, 1955, in Greenville, he lived a life defined by dedication, creativity, and deep commitment to family and community.

A proud graduate of Anderson College with a degree in Fine Arts, Jimmy blended artistic talent with a strong sense of public service. He began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in the Anderson County Narcotics Division and with the Williamston Police Department, serving with courage and integrity. He later devoted many years to the United States Postal Service, where he retired after a distinguished career marked by hard work and reliability.

Beyond his professional life, Jimmy brought warmth and joy to everyone around him. He was an avid reader, a talented musician who served as Music Minister at Mt. Airy Baptist Church and Mt. Springs Baptist Church in his younger years, and a devoted family historian. He was an active member of the Piedmont Historical Society, the Mt. Springs Masonic Lodge #302 A.F.M., and the Scottish Rites. Some of his happiest times were spent with family at Edisto Island, where he created lasting memories.

Jimmy is survived by his brother, Timothy Orr, and wife Crystal of Easley, and their children Christian Merritt, Steven Orr, and Olivia Orr; his beloved daughter, Emily Orr Black, and her husband, Benjamin, of Piedmont, and their children Erin, Jacob, Skyler, and Ashlyn; and his sons, John Paul Pridmore Orr of Powdersville and Gavin. He was preceded in death by his father, Jewell Paul Orr; his mother, Mary Erlean Pridmore Orr; and his brother, Patrick McKay Orr. His family remained the cornerstone of his life and the source of his greatest pride.
