James Patrick "Pat" Seigler

James Patrick “Pat” Seigler passed away on March 11, 2026, in Matador, Texas. Born on December 29, 1940, in Motley County to Herbert Eldred Seigler and Fannie Elizabeth Rattan, Pat married Gertrue Ann Henry on September 7, 1959, in Clovis, New Mexico.

For most of his adult life, Pat served his community as a respected mortician. He owned and operated Seigler Funeral Home in Matador beginning in June 1963, except for a brief period from 1985 to 1989, and acquired Seigler Funeral Home in Paducah in 1978. He sold both homes and retired in 2009. Deeply involved in local life, he served as a deacon at First Baptist Church, on the Cemetery Board, and as a member of the Lions Club and the Fire Department. He also formed the Turkey Jamboree house band.

Pat is survived by his son, David H. Seigler of Tyler, Texas, and his daughter, Shelley Merchant of Matador, Texas; six grandchildren, Mike Merchant, Patrick Merchant, Kathryn Merchant, Michael Seigler, Kaitlin Branin, and Phillip Seigler; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann H. Seigler; his parents, Herbert Eldred Seigler and Fannie Elizabeth Seigler; his brothers, Herbert Norman Seigler and Don Kent Seigler; and his sisters, Frances Folmar and Linda Smith.
