James Morgan ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hawker Funeral Home - Blackfoot on Mar. 16, 2026.James "Jim" Howard Morgan, 68, Blackfoot, passed away on March 13, 2026, at his home after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.Jim was born on February 3, 1958, to J. Howard Morgan and Geraldine "Jerry" Jackman in Blackfoot, Idaho. He attended school in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1976.In December 1977, Jim met the love of his life, Joan Fairchild. After a few weeks of dating, he proposed, and they married on March 3, 1978. They went on to have two daughters, Jami and Jessica.When Jim was 23, he started his logging business. He spent nine years logging and then moved on to home construction until he retired.Jim was a natural craftsman who found joy in woodworking. He was a perfectionist and took great pride in his work. He was always making new things from furniture, canes, horse buggies, sheep camps, and anything else in between. He loved to share his creations with his family and close friends.Hunting was his passion. He loved the outdoors. His masterpieces hung throughout his home. Many great memories and experiences were shared with his wife, daughters, grandkids, and friends. His hunting adventures were a highlight of his life.He valued hard work and family. He taught his kids and grandkids many valuable skills that they will carry with them forever. He was proud of the life he built with his wife.He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and fought a long, hard battle, refusing to let the disease define him. Through years of challenges, he met each day with strength and courage, always doing his best to push forward.Jim is survived by his wife, Joan, of 48 years; his children Jami Luna (Michael Corbit) and Jessica (Brian) Bench; his seven grandchildren, Angel (Tyler), Kendal, Saul Jr., Chloee, Bowen, Ali, and Dylan; his great-granddaughter Indie; his sisters, LeeAnn (Dean) Dreher and Linda Kariya (Bill Matuzak), and brother Charles "Chic" Morgan. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Kay Kariya, and his nephews, Troy Gianinni and Paul Dreher.Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Hawker Funeral Home. The family will meet with friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the funeral home and again for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Groveland Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
