James Michael Rumaker
April 23, 1961— March 8, 2026
California, MD
James Michael Rumaker, 64, of California, Maryland, passed away on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 23, 1961, in Vineland, New Jersey, to Joseph and Norma Rumaker, Jim graduated from Gateway Regional High School in 1979. He began his studies at Pennsylvania State University on a full scholarship before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably and earned the Good Conduct Medal.
On June 9, 1984, Jim married the love of his life, Mary Ann. Together they raised two children, Joe Rumaker and Kelly Laurin. In 1987, the family moved from Long Island, New York, to California, Maryland, where Jim began a long career as a program manager for NAVAIR. He was known for his quiet dedication to his work and family, and in his free time he enjoyed golfing, following college wrestling—especially Penn State—and rooting for his beloved New York Giants and Mets. He also took great pleasure in tending his crab pots and sharing his catch with family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Norma Rumaker, and his daughter, Kelly Laurin. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, Joe Rumaker (Nicole) of Mechanicsville, Maryland; and his siblings, Joe Rumaker (Patty) of Frisco, Texas, Bill Rumaker of Phoenix, Virginia, Mark Rumaker (Pam) of York, South Carolina, Marge Koziol (Stan) of Huntington, New York, and Fran Rumaker-Inghram of Spring Hill, Florida. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jayson Rumaker, Bella Rumaker, Zoey Rumaker, Hagan Rumaker, Brody Rumaker, Benjamin Laurin, Arianna Laurin, and Brianna Laurin.
