James Michael Lawrentz

James Michael “Mike” Lawrentz, 86, of Ripley passed away Friday, March 13, 2026 at his home with his family by his side

Mike was born November 22, 1939 at Roane County a son of the late Basil “Curly” and Sarah (Law) Lawrentz.

Following high school, Mike enlisted in the U.S Air Force. Following his time in the service he worked in land leasing in the oil and gas industry. He would later retire from Constellium where he was a millwright. Mike was a man of many interests which included cars, was an avid gun and war memorabilia collector and was well known in the gun show circuit

James Michael is survived by his son, Michael Lawrentz (Amanda); grandchildren Torri Johnson (Brian) and Kelby Lawrentz; great-grandchildren Carter and Caleb Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra Sue Lawrentz and a son James Basil Lawrentz.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 18th at Waybright Funeral Home in Ripley. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
