James Leroy Cassell

James L. Cassell, affectionately known as Jim, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on May 31, 1964, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, he was a graduate of Trinity High School and later earned an associate’s degree. Jim spent much of his career in the food service industry as a server, where his warm spirit and genuine smile brought joy to those he served.

His compassionate nature extended to his deep love for animals; he would often rescue them from the street and care for them. Jim enjoyed staying active at the gym, particularly Planet Fitness, and had a lifelong passion for travel. He cherished the vibrant energy of New York City and the excitement of Hollywood, California, where he once lived, always eager to explore new places and form new friendships.

Jim’s relationships with family and friends were the heart of his life. He shared a special, unbreakable bond with his mother, Kitty Cassell, and remained close with dear friends including Usher and T.J., as well as his beloved cousin, Denise. Even as he faced significant health challenges in recent years, he maintained a positive spirit and continued to show deep care for those he loved.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved husband, Alberto Baez. He is survived by his mother, Kitty Cassell.
