James Lee Harris

James Lee Harris, lovingly known as “Unc,” passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 73 at his daughter’s home in Columbus, Ohio. Born on July 26, 1952, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of Henry and Laura Ann (Vinson) Harris and remained a lifelong resident of the city he held dear.

A dedicated electrician, James worked for Cicogna Electric until his retirement. He was a devoted and loving father to his only daughter, Kelita Harris, whom he cherished deeply. James was highly respected in his community, regarded as an “uncle” to many in the neighborhood and throughout Ashtabula. He was a passionate Cleveland Browns fan who never missed a home opener and looked forward each year to spending a month in Arizona, where he relaxed and enjoyed time with his friend and the mother of his daughter, Linda Hubbard.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelita Harris of Columbus; one brother, Willie B. (Barbara) Harris of Northfield Village; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Harris on June 21, 1990, and Laura Ann Harris on February 10, 2003, as well as three brothers, Johnnie Lee Harris, Charles Edward Harris, and Henry Harris Jr., and two sisters, Lillie Mae Fortner and Laura Mae Colvin.
