James Lamar Moore, known affectionately as Jamie, age 49, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on March 5, 2026. His death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Born in Columbus to Mark Barnes and Glynnda Moore, Jamie graduated from Columbus Alternative High School and earned an associate degree from Columbus State Community College. A devoted son, loving father, and loyal friend, he had a gift for making people laugh and helping them feel welcome in his presence.
Jamie possessed a big heart and a vibrant personality that could light up any room. He loved people and embraced life fully. Known for his strong work ethic, he held positions at Max & Erma’s and Walmart, where he formed lasting friendships with coworkers and customers alike. In his free time, he drove for Lyft and DoorDash, staying active in his community and always seeking ways to provide for those he cared about.
He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, compassion, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. Jamie took great pride in the people closest to him and was always ready to share stories, laughter, and heartfelt advice. His warm presence brought comfort and joy to many, and the memories he created will remain treasured by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Barnes; grandmothers Peggy Ann Moore and Antoinette Barnes; grandfathers Simon Price and Bernard Blackwell; uncles Juan “Gary” Barnes, Michael (Rhonda) Barnes, and Byron Barnes; and aunts Stacy Williams, Erica Barnes, and Leslie Barnes.
Jamie is survived by his wife, Maxine Loney; his loving mother, Glynnda Moore; his daughter, Miyah (Keith) Reavish; his grandfather, Ronald Moore; aunts Alison Barnes, Jessica Burkhart, and Rhonda Curtis; siblings Bronshay Barnes, Michael Barnes, Mark Barnes Jr., Tonisha Elder, and Marquan Barnes; nieces and nephews Torihan, Khyndre’, Jeziah, Kendrick, Kendahl, and Daya; and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends who will continue to honor his memory.
