James L. Verrelli
August 19, 1934— March 6, 2026
Yardley, PA
James L. Verrelli, 91, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Chandler Hall Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, to the late Philomena “Fannie” and Luigi Verrelli, Jim was known for his strong personality, no-nonsense approach to life, and his ever-present sense of humor. He proudly served in the United States Army, an experience that remained deeply meaningful to him throughout his life. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Trenton State College and taught high school in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, for more than 38 years, touching the lives of generations of students.
A talented musician, Jim played the organ and accordion in numerous local bands, performing as many as six nights a week for decades and bringing music and joy to audiences across the region. He took great pride in his homes, approaching repairs and improvements with a steadfast do-it-yourself spirit, and was also an entrepreneur who bought, sold, and rented properties in the local area and in Ocean City, New Jersey. Above all, he considered his family his greatest accomplishment.
Jim was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Victoria, Annie, and Jean. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn (Joachim) Verrelli. Together they raised three children: Lou Verrelli and his wife Tina of Devon, Pennsylvania; Kim Heath and her husband Rocky of Bradenton, Florida; and Jim Verrelli, Jr. and his fiancée Jennifer Ritter of Yardley, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Kent of Columbus, New Jersey; his grandchildren Sam, Lauren, Courtney, Erik, and Kirsten; five great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy; and many extended relatives and dear friends.
