James Kenneth "Kenny" McAllister

James Kenneth “Kenny” McAllister, 81, of Mt. Washington, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Robley Rex VA Medical Center. Born on July 6, 1944, in Taylorsville to the late James Leonard and Nancy Margaret Barnett McAllister, Kenny served his country with distinction for 25 years in the United States Air Force before retiring and later working as a delivery driver.

Kenny was known for his easy-going nature and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He had a deep love for science fiction and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Loretta McAllister Williams, and a stepbrother, Joe Malcolm Cox.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda McAllister Slavik of Redditch, England; his sons, Brian McAllister of South Carolina and Simon McAllister (Erin Hodges) of Borden, Indiana; four siblings, Shirley McAllister Harp of Scottsburg, Indiana, William Howard “Billy” McAllister (Brenda) of Mt. Washington, Tony Lynn McAllister (Carol) of Orlinda, Tennessee, and Judy McAllister Bowman (Dennis) of Taylorsville; a stepbrother, Ricky Cox (Gwen) of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Jaden McAllister, Penelope McAllister, Sydney McAllister, Connor McAllister, and Rhiannon Slavik; three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Maximus, and Kyson; and several nieces and nephews.
