James "Jimmy" Joseph Wafer, 42, of Belleville, Illinois, was born on March 1, 1984, in Belleville and passed away on March 10, 2026, at his residence in Belleville.
An accomplished artist, Jimmy possessed a remarkable talent for graffiti art. Working under the tag name “Almost,” he transformed ordinary spaces into vibrant, imaginative works that reflected his distinctive view of the world. He took special joy in creating unique pieces of art to give to family and friends.
Jimmy’s playful spirit, generous nature, and gentle patience endeared him to his nieces. He cherished time spent with them, whether making them laugh, sharing his creativity, or simply being present. He also showed deep compassion for those less fortunate, extending his kindness to both people and animals in need of care.
He is survived by his parents, James A. and Deborah Sue (née Hudson) Wafer of Belleville; his brother, Benjamin Wafer of Belleville; his sister, Christy (Brett) Kobernus of Columbia, Illinois; his nieces, Avery and Kendall Kobernus; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jimmy will be remembered for his creativity, his kind heart, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. His art, laughter, and love remain alive in their memories.
