He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 10, 1961, to Joyce Whiteside-Scholl and Donald Whiteside.He attended Lebanon High School and spent 30 years at Truckers 24 Hour Road Service. Jim's hobbies included boating, rock 'n' roll, sports, and what he was known best for-racing. He started at age 7, and it quickly became his passion for the next 40 years.Jim, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, lived a life marked by strength, kindness, and deep love for his family. His greatest pride and joy were his three daughters and his five grandchildren.Jim found true happiness in the simple things-time with family, shared laughter, and his passion for racing sprint cars, which brought him excitement and joy throughout his life.He is survived by his mother, Joyce Scholl (Paul); his three daughters, Danielle Nicole Whiteside, Shelby Diane Grayson (Christopher), and Brittany Rene Whiteside; one sister, Jodi Ramage (Bill); and five grandchildren, Anthony Kirkland, Traydan Ross, Domonique "DJ" Jackson, Everleigh O'Neal, and Brayleigh O'Neal. Jim also had several cousins and two nephews that he deeply loved as well.Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cynthia Rae, his father, Donald Whiteside and his grandson Damoni Ross.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Masonic Lodge, 110 Varner St., Shirley, IN 47384.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or www.usacbf.org.Jim will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him."Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."2 Timothy 4:7–8I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.
