James Jeffrey Steinman, 72, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026, after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.
Born on December 11, 1953, in Logansport, Indiana, Jeff moved with his wife, Libby, to Vero Beach in 1981. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University and built a career centered on education and his lifelong passion for baseball. He taught physical education at Vero Beach Junior High, Oslo Middle, and Storm Grove Middle, and served as head baseball coach at Vero Beach High School from 1988 to 2012. Through coaching, he mentored generations of students and athletes, teaching them not only the skills of the game but also the importance of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Above all, Jeff was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. He found his greatest joy in supporting his family and watching his grandchildren participate in the sports they loved. He remained deeply committed to his faith throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Libby; daughters Carrie Eubanks (Kevin) and Gretchen Wright (Keith); grandchildren Drew, Addison, Tyler, Brooklyn, Blake, Matthew, Katelyn, and Megan; and his sister, Beth Bulick.
