James Houtchens ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 17, 2026.James Richard Houtches, 92, died peacefully Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his home in Dawsonville, GA. He was born May 22, 1933, in Kewanee IL , the son of Glenn and Roxie Ree Houtchens.James graduated from New York University with a Masters in Retail Management and served with the United States Army in the Korean War.In 1984 he married Carol Miller and they were together for 41 years. His hobbies included painting, model trains, bird watching, and woodworking.In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Wade Houtchens. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol Houtchens, is his son Glenn Houtchens, daughter Amy Houtchens; stepchildren Michele Miller, Scott Miller, Meggen Corcoran and Doug Miller; grandchildren Zack Miller, Matt Miller, Connor Corcoran and Avery Corcoran; and his great grandchildren Wyatt Miller and Sully Miller.A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 20 at Cornerstone Christian Church, 236 Etowah River Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.
