James "Randy" Hancock, a beloved member of the community, passed away on March 6, 2026, in Greenville, South Carolina. Born on July 29, 1950, in Pelzer, South Carolina, Randy lived a life characterized by kindness, intelligence, creativity, and an unwavering work ethic.
Randy dedicated a significant part of his career to the Fabri Kal plastic plant, where he worked tirelessly until his retirement. Before that, he was a dedicated mill worker, exemplifying a strong commitment to his professions throughout his life. His hardworking nature and courage earned him the respect of many who knew him.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Randy was known for his deep passions and interests. He was an avid NASCAR fan, always excited to watch the races and discuss his favorite drivers. Additionally, Randy had a great fondness for watching westerns and had an appreciation for old cars, often engaging in nostalgic conversations about the classic vehicles he admired.
Randy's legacy continues through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Hancock, along with their children Lisa Hancock, Kim Hancock (David), Wendy Hoffman (Tony), Joy Arledge (Joey), and Michael Arledge (Tabitha). Randy also leaves behind his brother, Mike Hancock (Pam), and sister, Vicki Bright. In addition, Randy is survived by numerous grandchildren who brought joy to his life: Ann Hooper (Cody), Josh Morgan (Vera), Randi Harper, and Eric Harper. He was a grandfather to six great-grandchildren.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Brown and Gene Brown, who instilled in him the values that shaped the remarkable man he became.
As we remember James "Randy" Hancock, we celebrate his life—a life marked by love, determination, and genuine care for others, leaving an indelible impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service for Randy will be held on Thursday, March 12th at 5:00 pm with receiving of friends from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, at Powdersville Community Church, located at 750 Oil Mill Rd, Piedmont, SC 29678.
