James H. Johnson

James H. Johnson, 79, of Smiths Grove and formerly of Plano, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow.

Born on February 8, 1947, in Edmonson County to the late Homer O. and Mary Maude Willis Johnson, James was a longtime member of Oak Grove United Baptist Church. He retired from DESA International after 43 years as a Production Manager. He found deep joy in the outdoors, spending many hours hunting, fishing, camping, and running bird dogs. A devoted Celtics fan, he shared countless games with his partner, Kim. James embraced life fully and was known for his wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his life partner, Kim Collins of Smiths Grove; his bonus children, Kashua Moore (Kendra) and Kara Beth Pedigo (Justin); his grandchildren, Kendallyn, Kaison, Emory, Ellie, and Kolson; and many cousins and dear friends.
