Gallagher, Jr., known to his friends and family as Jim, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown. Born on June 23, 1944, in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania, Jim was a man of integrity, courage, and warmth.Jim graduated from Notre Dame High School after attending Bethlehem Catholic High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Raleigh LPD-1 as a plank owner, an experience that instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.Following his military service, Jim began a long and dedicated career at Bethlehem Steel in the Electric Furnace Melt Shop (EFM), where he was respected for his strong work ethic. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and supportive team member who was always willing to lend a helping hand.An avid enthusiast of firearms and cars, Jim spent many of his leisure hours immersed in his interests both as a collector and shooting enthusiast.Survivors include his sister Madeline Doyle of New York, son James H. Gallagher, III with wife Denise M. and grandchildren Kelly E. Gallagher and Bryan P. Gallagher.He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Gallagher, Sr. and Dorothy B. (Loncar) Gallagher, whose values and love shaped him into the remarkable man he became.Services: Private services at the convenience of the family will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery. Jim's services have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
