August 14, 1940— March 11, 2026
Perry, GA
James Franklin “Red Fox” Bryant, age 85, of Perry, Georgia, passed away on March 11, 2026, after an extended illness.
Born on August 14, 1940, in Thomaston, Georgia, to James Roy Bryant and Cora Lee Flowers Bryant, James grew up with a deep love for the outdoors. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and water skiing, spending many happy hours on the water. He worked for many years in a cotton mill in Powersville before beginning a long career as a truck driver transporting mobile homes for Champion Mobile Homes. After the company closed, he became self-employed and continued working independently until his retirement.
James possessed a remarkable natural mechanical ability and an endless curiosity for how things worked. He took great satisfaction in repairing appliances, patiently restoring broken items to working order, and he taught himself everything he knew about CB radios, mastering the hobby on his own.
He is survived by his daughters Lynne Gibbs of Perry, Robin Kay Bryant of Perry, and Heather Hale (Cody) of Americus; his brother Lee Roy Bryant of Florida; grandchildren Johnny Gibbs, Cody Gibbs (Sarah), Lindsay Meadows (Jessie), Austin Brand, Emily Wilder, Jackson Wilder, and Riley Hale; and three great-grandchildren, Everett Meadows, Elsie Meadows, and Walker Gibbs. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son James Darrin Bryant, his grandson Jimmy Edward Gibbs, and his sisters Eloise Culverhouse (Clinton), Dorothy Culverhouse (Jack), and Jeannie (Bobby) Parks.
