James Ellsworth Gordon

Jim Gordon, 78, of Stanley, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born on April 18, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Jamaica, Queens, the son of the late John and Camille Gordon.

Jim attended New York City public schools and graduated from Jamaica High School. He continued his education at St. John's University before earning his degree from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, where he played on the varsity basketball team and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity.

He dedicated thirty years of his career to Associated Spring Barnes Group, Inc. as an Account Manager before retiring. An avid golfer, Jim was a longtime member of Cowan's Ford Golf Club, where his friends affectionately called him "the Czar." He organized annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach and regular weekend matches at the club.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Deborah Cook-Gordon, and many cousins in the New York City area. He lived life to the fullest and found his greatest joy in the company of Deborah or on the golf course with his buddies. As he often said, "The road goes on forever and the party never ends."
