James Edward Meade, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Rockwall, Texas, at the age of 80. Born on June 11, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, James lived a life defined by dedication, service, and deep love for his family.
James proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1967. After his military service, he found his calling as a funeral director at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. With compassion and professionalism, he guided countless families through their most difficult times, offering comfort and care when it was needed most.
On January 31, 1970, James married the love of his life, Margaret, in Dallas, Texas. Together they built a strong and loving family. He was a proud father to his sons, Jimmy Meade and his wife Robin, and Michael Meade and his wife Alma. Nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, Cash, Kelsey, and Brody, whom he loved dearly and delighted in watching grow, succeed, and compete in their sports.
James cherished time spent at the lake, where he found peace and happiness. He was a constant presence at his grandchildren’s sporting events and took great pride in supporting his sons’ business, Meade Servicing Group. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Meade; his sons and their wives; his cherished grandchildren; his sisters, Jackie Halpin-Osteen and Jamie Lopez; his brother, Jeff Meade; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charles Meade and Mary Eloise Meade. James will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and the love he shared with those around him.
