James E. Keen

1944 — 2026

Green Bay, WI

James E. Keen, 81, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. Born on September 17, 1944, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to the late Erwin and Irene (Schremp) Keen, Jim graduated from Appleton West High School in 1963. He married Janeen Peotter on February 27, 1965, and together they raised three sons, John, Jody, and Jay.

Jim found deep joy in the outdoors, which became the heart of his life and hobbies. An avid deer hunter, he spent many meaningful days in Langlade County, a place he regarded as his sanctuary. He loved sharing these experiences with his young sons, taking them up north on weekends to enjoy time together in nature. When not outdoors, Jim spent 34 years driving for Schneider, safely traveling more than two million miles across the country. A walking GPS who knew every road without needing a map, he was a five-star rated driver known for his reliability and skill. He cherished traveling with Janeen, taking her on countless road trips and cruises throughout their years together.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Janeen, and their children, John (Tina) Keen, Jody (Jamie) Keen, and Jay (Teresa) Keen. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justina, Hailey, Jarrett (Brooke), Taylor, Josh, Zach, and Andrew, as well as great-grandchildren Jessi and Bowyn. He is further survived by his siblings, Marilyn (Tom) Merkes, Gary (Sue) Keen, Nancy (Gary) Kleczewski, Mary (Robert) Summers, brother-in-law Tom (Sue) Peotter, sister-in-law Patti (Lee) Peotter-Bettes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sherry (Richard) Mielke and Paula (John) Vogt, nephews Kristopher Keen and Matt Bettes, and in-laws William and Mary Peotter.
