Age 76 years. Jim was born on December 6, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Elmer G. and Mildred M.M. (Pacholke) Hetzner. He was married to Carol Bartels on September 30, 1972, in Saginaw where she survives him. Prior to his retirement in 2008, Jim was employed at GM Powertrain for 39 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was a Trustee and sang in the choir. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was proud of is "going to do" list.Besides his wife, Carol, Jim is survived by four children and their spouses, Jennifer Hetzner, Michael (Rania) Hetzner, Jonathan (April) Hetzner, and Daniel Hetzner; five grandchildren, Holdan, Gabe, Genevieve, Henry, and Harper; sister-in-law, Beth Bartels; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.He was also predeceased by two sisters, Janice Sowatsky and Marilyn Bloomfield.The family wishes to express their gratitude to Kelsey and the staff at Barton Woods Assisted Living and Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful and heartfelt care they gave to Jim.Funeral service will take place 12:00 Noon on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 808 Weiss St., Saginaw. The Rev. Gary Bender will officiate with burial in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Heart to Heart Hospice.
