James Edward Dhooghe, known to all as Jim, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Integris Health in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Born on May 24, 1943, in Parsons, Kansas, to Aloysius A. and Elouise (Keyte) Dhooghe, he graduated as valedictorian of the St. Patrick High School class of 1961 and later earned a degree in business administration from Washburn University. He served in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a successful business career that included time in San Antonio and Houston and ownership of his own company. He later co-owned the Bucket Shop in Oklahoma City, later known as Container Supply, where he worked until his retirement.

Jim was an avid golfer for many years at Oaktree in Edmond and took special pride in a memorable golfing trip to Scotland. He was a member of the NRA and the Oklahoma Gun Club, where he enjoyed target shooting. At home, he created a backyard oasis filled with gardening, a koi pond, birdwatching, and observing wildlife. He married Janet Bradshaw in 1965; they later divorced in 1970. On September 17, 1992, he married Betty L. Dunn in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home in Edmond; step-children Kelly A. Dunn (Kristen) of Harrah, Oklahoma, Troy D. Dunn of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Susan Krause of Houston, Texas; four step-grandchildren, Anthony, Ryan, Ayden, and Rayne; his brothers and sisters, John Dhooghe (Jackie), David Dhooghe (Ellen), Deborah Mosier (Kevin), Janice Dulohery (Mike), all of Parsons, and Richard Dhooghe (Donna) of Cave Springs, Arkansas; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 1983, his mother in 2011, his brothers Michael Dhooghe in 2005 and Donald Dhooghe in 2012, and Donald’s wife Pam.
