James Bean ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 14, 2026.James Douglas "Jim" Bean Jr, born January 3, 1954, passed peacefully surrounded by family on March 10, 2026, after a courageous 27-year battle with cancer. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Becky; his daughters, Jennifer (David) and Kristin (Sean); three adored grandchildren (James, Caleb, and Samantha); and his older brother, Terry (Dawn).Jim built a life defined not by what he owned, but by how he treated people. A longtime employee of CTSI since 2007, Jim was cherished by colleagues and devoted to those he worked alongside.A proud alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Jim was overjoyed that both of his daughters chose his alma mater. On Saturdays, you would find him cheering on the Vols, and on the fairways whenever he could manage it - golf was a lifelong love. He was an athlete at heart, having played football and other sports in his youth, and that competitive spirit never left him.Jim was a devoted member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where he served on the finance board and volunteered faithfully joining his daughters on mission trips to Mexico and the annual Florida retreat. He was organized, dependable, and quietly generous. He had no interest in luxury or status; if something was not broken, he kept it, and if it was, he fixed it first. What mattered to Jim was people - all people, regardless of background or circumstance. He treated everybody like they were somebody. He leaves behind a legacy not of things, but of lives he touched, mentored, and made better, simply by being in them.Visitation will be on Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM at Emmanual United Methodist Church, 2404 Kirby Road, Memphis, TN.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to a charity that benefits your local community.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930."Where Memphis comes to remember, since 1924."To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
