James Darrell Doss

James Darrell Doss, Sr., known affectionately as JD or Jimmy, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 74. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late James Marion Doss and Faye Thompson Doss. He and his wife, Lyndell, left Atlanta and made their home in Madison, where Jimmy quickly became a devoted part of the Morgan County community.

In 1991, Jimmy began working for the Madison-Morgan Recreation Department and as a bus driver for the Morgan County Schools. For more than 25 years, he gave generously of his time and energy to the people of Morgan County. He will be remembered for his warm smile and the genuine respect and kindness he showed everyone he met. To Jimmy, every person mattered.

He is survived by his wife, Lyndell; his son, Jay Doss (Danielle); and his grandchildren, Haley, Dylan, and Taylor Doss. He also leaves behind other family members, Dale Doss (Jane), Tina Doss Harvey (Russell), Nancy Doss Hawkinson (Martin), Chris Phillips (Angela), and Chloe, as well as his siblings, Bobby Doss (Jo), Janice Doss Phillips, Eddie Doss, and Cherry Lynn Doss.
